Disney's Maleficent Movie Trailer

Have you ever wondered about Maleficent's story? Wondered what happened to the wicked witch in Sleeping Beauty that hardened her heart? Or wondered why she cursed Princess Aurora? If so, you will be pleased to uncover the answers in Disney's new movie, which promises to answer these questions.  The movie is titled simply and appropriately Maleficent and is tagged, "Evil has a Beginning."

Cast in the lead role is Angelina Jolie who looks properly menancing.  You all know Jolie, whose works have included Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and more recently, The Tourist opposite Johnny Depp.

Elle Fanning joins the long list of cast members in the role of Princess Aurora.  Elle has a long list of credits that include Because of Winn-Dixie and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Further down the list of actors is a favorite actor of mine, Imelda Staunton.  I always enjoy Staunton's work and love finding her tucked away in yet another movie.  Amongst Staunton's credits  are the movies Vera Drake and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, in which she brought Dolores Umbridge to life.

Check out the official movie trailer for Maleficent here but be warned it looks properly menacing and not suitable for the youngest of Walt Disney fans:

Watch for Maleficent in theatres this May!

Downton Abbey Costumes in Toronto

Downton Abbey Costumes in Toronto
The first-ever North American exhibit of Downton Abbey costumes will be held in Canada in Toronto at the Spadina Museum.

The Spadina Museum, which tells the story of Toronto in the 1920s and 1930s, has rented 20 of the costumes in order to bring them to North America and put them on exhibit for a very short while, from March 11 to April 13, 2014.

If you visit, you will see select pieces of clothing from those worn by the Dowager Countess of Grantham and Lord Grantham to that worn by the servants. You will also be treated to a Downton Abbey-themed tour of the house and for an additional fee you can add a cream tea onto your visit, too. How exciting!

The Spadina Museum is expecting fans of the series and of the history of the times to visit. Will you be amongst them?

See you
at the movies!

Behind the Scenes at Downton Abbey

As a Downton Abbey fan, I am always looking to read more about the hugely successful Masterpiece Theatre mini-series and I just stumbled across a number of really interesting places to follow the series and I thought I would share them here with you.

First on the list, is Instagram. I am not very familiar with Instagram but was impressed when I discovered a whole page of pictures and links about Downtown Abbey, which you can find here.

From Instagram, I found the official Downton Abbey page on Facebook. If features more great information and pictures as well as bonuses like a quiz to determine which character you would be in the series. You can find the Downton Facebook page here.  I th ink that the Facebook page will be a great source of information about future developments in the world of the Crawleys.

Then I found the official Pinterest Downton Abbey Page. As you would expect, it is full of wonderful Downton Abbey pictures for browsing, more links for reading and, if you are on Pinterest, for pinning.

I always enjoy blogger Flixchatter's postings and you might enjoy her post, "Musings on Downton Abbey - Seven Things That Got Her Hooked on the Show." As a fan, you will likely agree with all seven of her points. You can find her post here.

As a family that had lots of Lego around, I was interested to discover Eric Stevens' Lego recreation of Highclere Castle and the characters in Lego form.  He used his talents to design it for his girlfriend as a Christmas present.  You can check out his Downton Abbey Lego creations here.  Wouldn't it be great if Lego created a Downton Abbey set for those of us who are less creative than Eric Stevens?

For a complete behind-the-scenes look at the world of Downton Abbey, you  might consider the book shown here on this page. Behind the Scenes at Downton Abbey is "The Official Backstage Pass to the Set, the Actors and the Drama."  Find it on Amazon by clicking here.  It is one of the most recent publications about the miniseries.

Hope that these resources give you a bit of a contact with the world of Downton Abbey!

See you
on Sunday!

Nissan Rouge 2014 Snowman Commercial - Winter Warrior

As a resident of Ottawa, Canada, where we regularly battle old-man winter, I had a chuckle out of this movie-themed commercial for the Nissan Rogue.

It's an action "movie" of sorts, with a bunch of snowmen terrorizing a city, turning the down-town into a wasteland and stopping all vehicular transportation, including the mighty OC Transpo bus. (Okay, it is not actually an OC Transpo bus.)

Of course, since this is a Nissan commercial, it is only the Nissan Rogue that manages to escape from this horrible menace and take a full passenger load to safety.

Here's the video. I hope it gives you a smile, too:

Hope you are staying
safe and warm
this winter!

Downtown Abbey Season 4

Downtown Abbey Season 4

For those of us watching Downton Abbey season 4 in North America on television the slow way, week after week after painful week, the news that the new season is available on DVD and blu-ray disc on January 28, 2014 may be is welcome. After having watched seasons 1 through 3 on blu-ray disc at my own speed in three marathons, I personally find the weekly watching of each episode particularly torturous.

Of course, whether you simply want to be free to watch the series at your own pace or you missed the opening two-hour special, you will find it all right here on this release bundled together with all of the other episodes from season 4 along with some bonus features.

In case you missed it, here's a peak at season 4 through the official trailer:

How about you? Are you watching the program weekly or are you simply going to buy the season on disc when it is available?

My Sunday nights
are spent at Downton.
How about yours?
