Remember Sunday Movie Trailers

Remember Sunday stars Alexis Bledel, who I love from the Gilmore Girls and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies and Zachary Levi, who appeared in Chuck and Thor: The Dark World.

The story? That of a young man with memory issues and a young lady who falls for him and finds herself wondering what he is hiding. His secret is that he suffered a brain aneurysm three years ago and now he does not have any short-term memory.

Hallmark released three movie trailers for this movie and I have chosen to share them all here. The first two are shorter trailers, the third the longer version. If you're keen, like I am, you'll be happy to watch all three, even though there is an overlap. If you just want to watch one, I recommend the last one, although it is the longest but not really long at three minutes.

Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit Game

How exciting! A new Harry Potter game and just when I thought we might not see any new Harry Potter merchandise options.

This game is a Harry Potter version of Trivial Pursuit. If you know what the old versions of Trivial Pursuit looked like, you will realize quickly that this one is different. That is because it is a travel game and therefore, it does not have a board like the one we would previously have seen in a Trivial Pursuit game.

In any case, fans are clamouring for this new game that will test their knowledge of Harry Potter and his wizarding world. The topics on the cards include The Dark Arts, Hogwarts, Magical Spells and Potions, Magical Objects, Magical People and Animals and Magical Creatures.

It is a great gift idea for the Harry Potter geek in your family. Not only does it sound like fun for those who have knowledge of the books and movies but it is also affordable, retailing on Amazon right now for less than $20.

As I write this post, the game is simply too new to have any customer reviews but it looks like a pretty simple game at a reasonable price so I can't imagine it having any issues and the customer reviews on Amazon.co.uk, where it was released previously, are stellar. If you are interested, you can buy it on Amazon.com by clicking right here. The included 600 questions ought to keep you going for awhile.

See you
at the movies!

James Bond Spectre Trailer and Movie Poster

Spectre James Bond Movie Trailer and Poster
Some trailers are simply more important than others. This one, for the next James Bond movie called Spectre, fits that category. My husband and two grown sons will most definitely want to see this movie as soon as it comes out and the trailer will be very welcome since they cannot actually see the movie yet.

Spectre is due to hit movie theatres November 6, 2015. I wonder if the arrival of this movie will necessitate a re-watch of a bunch of the earlier movies, all of them perhaps or perhaps the ones starring Daniel Craig. How about it? Will you have to watch some or all of the James Bond movies in preparation to see this new one?

See you
at the movies!

Tron Legacy (2010) Movie Posters

I enjoyed the Tron movies and I know they have quite a following. I went looking for some Tron Legacy movie posters and found a number of great options, which I am glad to share with you here on this page. If you are looking for a movie-themed poster, there are some awesome images available all with great blue detailing that will make any room pop.  I can see any of these posters in a boy's bedroom, a man's cave or a home movie theatre. I expect they would also do well in the room of a girl or woman who embraces strong characters and action movies.

The choice, of course is totally up to you.

If you are a you are a fan of Olivia Wilde's character, Quorra, you might choose the poster depicting this strong female character who Wilde has said was based on women like Joan of Arc and Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The final poster is the one that I would purchase for someone who is as much a Jeff Bridges fan as they are a Tron fan.  It is double sided, which means that it was printed all the way through the paper on both sides in order to make it the best possible piece for display at the movie theatre. It was also an advance poster, meaning it was produced before the movie was released to be used for movie promotions. I would say that it is definitely a collector's item.

You can find any of these posters on Amazon by clicking directly on the image shown above or, to see all of Amazon's Tron movie posters, you can simply click here.

Is there a Tron: Legacy movie poster in your future?

Disney's The Muppets Vinylmation Figures

Vinyl + Animation = Vinylmation

In 2008, Disney released a series of collectible figures known as Vinylmation. Each figure is shaped like Mickey Mouse but resembles a different character from Disney's movies and theme parks.

For each series there is a set number of figures. Most are known but some are not and those that are unknown are called the Mystery Chaser of the series. Some figures are sold in a blind or mystery box and you do NOT know which figure you are buying when you purchase it.

These figures include the beloved characters from The Muppets. These Muppet figures are cute and fun collectible Disney items, perfect for any Muppet fan's collection. My favorite might just be the Dr. Teeth Muppet Vinylmation shown here! How can you help but love him? He is so colorful!

The figures included Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Statler and Waldorf, Bean Bunny, Rowlf the Dog, Beaker, Sweetums, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Rizzo the Rat, The Swedish Chef and a tuxedo-wearing 55th Anniversary Kermit the Frog.  Check out these figures from Series 1 and eBay:

An American in Paris Movie Review

An American in Paris Movie Review

An American in Paris is a 1951 George Gershwin film that features a romanticized Paris in the 1920s and stars Leslie Caron and Gene Kelly. It tells the story of an American expat painter who falls for a French dancer while living in Paris and in this movie, romance flourishes despite the odds against it. I loved it.

It is a beautiful and entertaining movie.  It features great music and lyrics, stylized production numbers, evocative period sets and a wonderful cast that make for an entertaining film with romantic entanglements that responded extremely well to being transferred to blu-ray disc.

Warner Brothers used their patented ultra-resolution process to bring this film back to life. That means they went back to the original 3 strip technicolor negatives and realigned them digitally. As a result, the color and detail is unlike anything we have seen before on home video. In the dance number, where Leslie Caron takes on different personalities using different dances and colors, you will not believe the quality of color. It really was beautiful. If you have a blu-ray player, make sure to chose the blu-ray version of this movie.

MOVIE TRAILER

You'll get a kick out of this very original trailer, which is the most complete trailer I could find on Youtube. It is rough but it does a far better job of telling you the plot of this movie than I can and, of course, if you go on to watch the movie in blu-ray you will know then that the quality...well, 'S Wonderful. Of course, you can watch the trailer or simply choose to turn on the music and leave it running while you read the rest of this page!

PROFESSIONAL REVIEWS OF MOVIE AND BLU-RAY DISC

Blu-ray.com says that it was a "...stunning restoration and video transfer, a solid presentation of the film's original mono track, and a well-rounded collection of supplements that adds a lot of value to the disc. If you're a fan of Gene Kelly classics or other notable musicals of the period, you won't be disappointed."

Combustible Celluloid compares the two most remembered movies that Gene Kelly made, Singin' in the Rain and An American in Paris.

DVD Beaver says that "this blu-ray image is beautiful...The improvement, in all areas, borders on spectacular. Beyond detail, which we expect to be superior, colors are more vibrant (closer to the Technicolor ideal), contrast and black levels are pristine...The bottom line: no blu-ray library should be complete without this movie."

In their print edition written at the time of the release of this movie, Sound and Vision Magazine said, "...this may be the most ravishing blu-ray disc - not only of a classic film but also of any film - that this reviewer has ever seen (and he has seen a bunch.)"

MOVIE SOUNDTRACK

An American in Paris movie soundtrack
The climax of this movie is "The American in Paris" ballet, which runs for 18 minutes and features Kelly and Caron dancing to Gershwin's An American in Paris. It is said that the ballet cost more than $500,000 to stage, an incredible amount of money at that time.

To some, the plot is considered secondary in this movie. Director Vincente Minnelli brought together a group of extraordinarily talented individuals with Gene Kelly as choreographer and they went on to create "a rapturous musical not quite like anything else in cinema." The end of the film includes 17 minutes of dance that required a month to make. Songs you will recognize include " 'S Wonderful," "I Got Rhythm," and "Love Is Here to Stay."
