The Peanuts Movie 2016 Wall Calendar

Fans of Charles M. Shulz are doubly lucky when it comes to the new movie.  First of all, they're going to get to revisit the world of Peanuts and their favorite characters like Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy and Sally in a fresh new movie and secondly, they are going to have new merchandise options to collect, like this 2016 calendar.  I think that it is going to make a great Christmas gift this year to a fan of the Peanuts franchise or to yourself. The Peanuts Movie 2015

The Peanuts Movie 2015

I do not think that my husband, who grew up with Charlie Brown and his gang and was a particularly big fan of the Red Baron, is aware that there is a new Peanuts movie on the way and I am not sure what his reaction will be.

The gang is all back again in the new Peanuts movie but they definitely have a different feel, which can be attributed to the technology used to make this movie for "It's a computer animated movie, Charlie Brown." The previous shows featured hand-drawn animation so those who grew up with the original programs might find that the characters look, well, a little bit odd.  I do.

In this new feature-length movie, Charlie Brown starts off hoping that this is his big chance. That things will be different from now on.  That his embarrassing moments can be left behind...but we all know that that is not likely to happen.

Here is a peek at the movie through the trailers that have been released for the movie starting with the very short initial teaser trailer:

Then the official movie trailer:

Finally, here is the Christmas-themed trailer. I love the idea that the movie incorporates the Christmas holiday season.

My husband will be glad that the Red Baron does appear in the movie and I love the scene of him flying over the Eiffel Tower in Paris.  Are you a Peanuts fan? What do you think of the idea of a new movie? Of the computer generated animation? Will you be adding The Peanuts Movie to your viewing list?

More James Bond Spectre Videos

James Bond Spectre Trailers and Videos
As we await the next James Bond movie, Spectre, the producers tantalize us with another trailer. However, if you are curious about the upcoming film, you won't want to stop there. There are a few other interesting videos available including a short clip showing movie director Sam Mendes discussing the movie, a video about the exciting cars of Spectre, one about the incorporation of Mexico's Day of the Dead celebrations into the movie and finally, an early video about shooting in Austria.

The Second Spectre Trailer

Sam Mendes on Spectre

Here is the video in which director Sam Mendes talks about the movie. He says that Spectre is about Bond, "whether or not he should continue to pursue the life he has pursued, whether he matters and if he is going to continue."

The Cars of Spectre

Then there is a video about the cars. Part of the huge appeal of the James Bond movies for the men in my life are the cars.  In Spectre, Bond drives an Aston Martin. A bonus for car fans is the fact that the car will go up against a really special Jaguar. Mendes says that they are two of the fastest cars in the world...neither of which we will have ever seen before.

Day of the Dead Celebrations in Mexico

The movie might have you wanting to visit Mexico.  It painstakingly incorporates the Day of the Dead celebrations and 1,500 fully costumed extras in the opening scene, As one make-up artist says in the clip, it may be the most visually exciting opening in a Bond movie ever."

Skiing in Austria

Alternatively, the stunning scenery in this scene may have you wanting to go somewhere cold...like Austria. Looks like it will be another Bond film that is "exciting to look at."

Spectre opens in the United Kingdom on October 26, 2015 and November 6, 2015 in North America.

Everybody's Fine Movie Review

On the eve of my youngest son's move 2,575 miles across the continent from Ottawa to Seattle, I sat down and watched Everybody's Fine.  Judging by how I felt afterwards, that turned out to be a mistake because I thoroughly related to the characters in the movie.

Because of my current family situation, I was particularly empathetic with the father figure as played by Robert De Niro. However, the film also made me feel for my father and my childhood family dynamics.

Everybody's Fine is real tear jerker. I was definitely one of those who sobbed their way through the movie, which is not my norm. According to other pieces I have read, I am not the only one who sobbed their way through this film.

The story? Dad has lost his wife and has now taken on her roll of trying to hold the  family together. I don't want to say more for fear of spoiling the story for you but I will say this movie comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.  If you are an empty nester or becoming one, be sure to have a box of tissues at hand.  Take a peek into the movie here, in the movie trailer.

Everybody's Fine also stars Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell.  It received mixed reviews and the late critic Roger Ebert said the acting could have been better.  I think I agree with regard to the supporting cast. However, I think De Niro's performance was pretty good. The Guardian says about De Niro's performance: "His calm, careworn, less iconic and more human face is restfully presented to the camera." They go on and call it a "refreshingly open, untricksy performance." They close by calling the film, "fine." I agree.

I think that if you are able to relate to the father figure you will enjoy Everybody's Fine. Be aware that it will pull on your heart strings and that it is sad. I think it does a very good job of sharing a situation that many people, like myself, find themselves in. Hopefully, we will be able to stay close to our children, wherever they wind up living.

DISNEY'S THE FINEST HOURS - CHRIS PINE TO THE RESCUE

Some movies trailers give me goosebumps and the trailer for Disney's new movie The Finest Hours sure does. It is a period drama set in the middle of a nor’easter in the Atlantic Ocean in 1952. It tells of two ships, the Pendleton and the Fort Mercer, both oil tankers that split in two in the midst of the storm leaving the crews at the mercy of the Atlantic and the subsequent rescue attempt.

Watch the trailer here for yourself and see what you think.

Customer reviews of the book version of the story say things like "Gripping Tale of Sacrifice and Heroism." I'm looking forward to the movie version of The Final Hours when it arrives at movie theatres on January 29, 2016. What do you think?
