Aloha (2015) Hawaiian Movie Review

Aloha (2015) Hawaiian Movie Review

Because I am busy, I have noticed a tendency to NOT get around to posting about the movies that I have seen despite the fact that this is a movies blog. Therefore, I have decided to start writing shorter movie reviews that include a brief idea of the plot, the movie’s official trailer, what to watch out for, whether or not I would recommend the movie and who I would recommend it for. I hope YOU will find this new format helpful when you are looking for your next movie and that it motivates ME to post about the great and not-so-great movies that I have seen in a more regular manner.

Anyway, the 2015 movie Aloha is the first up with this format in mind.  I am a big fan of Hawaii and have had the opportunity to visit twice so any movie with Hawaii as a backdrop definitely appeals to me.

Aloha is a romantic comedy that stars Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams and that also has interesting appearances by Bill Murray and Alec Baldwin. That's a lot of star power in one movie. The story is that of a military contractor who meets up with a long lost girlfriend but falls for the Air Force pilot assigned to escort him while he is in Honolulu, Hawaii. The trailer fills you in a bit more:

The movie is rated PG-13 for some language including suggestive comments. As an adult, I found that language not terribly offensive. It was a small part of the movie. It has a non-explicit sexual situation and references and some alcohol, once again not offensive to me.

I would RECOMMEND this movie to anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy. It is not perhaps the best one ever made but it is beautiful and Cooper and Stone had us laughing out loud quite a few times.

I would love to go back to Hawaii and stay airbnb style in the Christmas-kitschy house that starred in this movie.

See you
at the movies!
Brenda
