Hallmark's Missing the Boat Movie Review

We settled in recently to check out Hallmark's new movie Missing the Boat starring Emilie Ullerup and Kristoffer Polaha. At least we thought it was a new movie, but upon further review, I discovered it actually aired in January, 2026. Where was I then? You don't really want to know, it has been quite a year in our lives.

PREMISE   

Missing the Boat is a fun romantic comedy set on the high seas. Well, some of it is on the high seas; some, on land but the whole adventure is funny and surprisingly beautiful. Watch the following short video trailer to see for yourself. 

The premise, two workaholics struggle to complete their assigned work tasks on board a cruise ship and eventually miss the boat when they are on an excursion. What follows is a funny romp through various Mediterranean ports in southern Italy and a blossoming relationship. The relationship, of course, will come as no surprise to Hallmark movie fans.

REVIEWS

Viewers on Reddit enjoyed the comedy in this Hallmark movie and enjoyed it enough to call for a sequel. Score wise it only faired 6.8 out of 10 on IMDB but I think it is still a fun movie. Remember, it is a made for television film.  A viewer on IMDB called it Hallmark's version of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Girls Gone Hallmark says, "It’s classic Hallmark adventure-meets-romance energy, and a fitting, feel-good sendoff to Winter Escape." I agree.

RECOMMENDED

Yes, I recommend this movie. Remember that it is a Hallmark movie not a blockbuster film but it is entertaining and scenic; a great trip for an armchair traveler, a good choice before a trip to Sicily and probably even after a visit to Sicily!
