Hallmark Hall of Fame's Christmas in Conway

Hallmark Hall of Fame's Christmas in Conway Movie

Christmas in Conway is the 250th Hallmark Hall of Fame movie presentation as well as this year's Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas movie. As you might or might not know, Hallmark reserves the Hallmark Hall of Fame movies for a channel other than the Hallmark Channel, which is reason for celebration amongst those of us who do not receive the Hallmark Channel.

This year's movie is the story of a husband who is determined to provide his seriously ill wife with a special Christmas treat in the form of a Ferris wheel in the backyard. That news is greeted with mixed feelings by the neighbours and negatively by one in particular who wants to win the Christmas house decorating contest.

You can check out the movie for yourself in this short Youtube video:

What would you think if your neighbour wanted to erect a Ferris wheel in his or her back yard? Would you be happy or dismayed? And, more importantly, will you be tuning in on December 1st to watch Hallmark Hall of Fame's Christmas movie presentation, Christmas in Conway? Find your copy on Amazon by clicking right here.

Hallmark's Christmas With Holly (2012)

Hallmark Hall of Fame's next movie presentation is Christmas with Holly.

Christmas with Holly is a romantic story based on a novel by Lisa Kleypas called Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor.

I love that it will air just shortly before Christmas on December 9, 2012 and I love that it will air on ABC, which means that I will be able to watch it! Woo Hoo!

How about you? Are you looking forward to Hallmark Hall of Fame's 247th movie presentation? I am!

Hallmark Hall of Fame's Movie Firelight

Hallmark Hall of Fame's Firelight

Hallmark Hall of Fame's newest movie, Firelight, aired last night, April 22, 2012, on ABC. Unfortunately, I missed watching it because I was picking up my son from university but when I checked this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that you can already buy the movie, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. from Amazon.

I'll be sure to return with my review of the movie as soon as possible, though I expect only to be impressed. Hallmark holds its best movies for Hallmark Hall of Fame productions. In the last year or two I have seen a lot of the Hallmark Hall of Fame movies and have not been disappointed with one.

A Smile As Big As The Moon (2012) Movie Review

The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie A Smile As Big As The Moon is a touching movie possibly maybe even better when you consider that the events portrayed within it are based on real people and actual events.

A group of teenage high school students enrolled in a special education class who experience a variety of issues like Down syndrome, Tourette’s, learning disabilities and emotional problems, learn to work as a team and have the opportunity to attend Space Camp.

Based on a book of the same name written by Mike Kersjes and Joe Layden, I am pleased to be able to HIGHLY RECOMMEND  A Smile As Big As The Moon for anyone who cheers for the underdog and who admires perseverance, determination and hard work.

This is the kind of movie that Hallmark does better than anyone and one of the best movies I have seen in awhile. A Smile As Big As The Moon has ALL THE RIGHT STUFF.

Hallmark Hall of Fame's A Smile As Big As The Moon Movie (2012)

Heads up Hallmark movie fans. There's a new movie being broadcast this month from Hallmark Hall of Fame called A Smile As Big As The Moon.

The film is based on the true story of a special education teacher working to help a class of special education students achieve the impossible dream of going to NASA's Space Camp and is based on a book written by Mike Kersjes and Joe Layden.

What's extra special about this Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation is the fact that Hallmark is broadcasting it on ABC rather than the Hallmark Channel, which means that people like you and I who do not receive the Hallmark Channel will be able to see A Smile As Big As The Moon when it premieres on Sunday, January 29, 2012.

The cast stars John Corbett, Jessy Schram, and Cynthia Watros.

Here's a peek at the official movie trailer:

Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas Collection DVD (2011)

Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas Collection. Add these movies to your holiday collection!

Hallmark Hall of Fame movies are, in my opinion, the best of the Hallmark movies so it is very interesting and definitely very well timed that Hallmark is offering for a limited time two Triple Feature Collections.

This set is the Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas Collection.  It includes thee fantastic Christmas-themed movies: A Dog Named Christmas, November Christmas and A Season For Miracles. The first two I have seen and loved. The last I have yet to see but A Season For Miracles has  only perfect five-star reviews from the customers on Amazon.

You can order your copy of the Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas Collection from Amazon by clicking here. It would definitely be a gift any Hallmark movie lover would like to find under the Christmas tree.

Hallmark's The Lost Child Movie Review

Hallmark's The Lost Child Movie Review

The Hallmark Hall of Fame 2000 movie The Lost Child is based on a book called Looking For Lost Bird by Yvette Melanson. Both share the story of a young girl named Rebecca who grew up happily in an adoptive family. After her parents pass away, she searches for her natural family and when a Navajo woman, searching for her siblings stolen at birth, contacts her, she finds them.

Most of the story deals with Rebecca and her family moving to the reservation and attempting to learn the language and culture of their Navajo ancestors. Three of them are warmly welcomed; her husband, however, is seen as an outsider and not so easily accepted. The family struggles to work through the issues that arise between the two cultures, recommitting to each other and to this new heritage that they are discovering.

The star of this movie is an actor who was familiar to me and it turns out that she is Academy Award winner Mercedes Rueh. Rueh won her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in The Fisher King, which I have not seen. It turns out that I know her from the Thanksgiving movie What’s Cooking.

If you are looking for a family movie and you love a heartwarming Hallmark Hall of Fame story, you will enjoy The Lost Child. This movie might also be of special interest to those who have been adopted, are searching for their birth families and/or who have a connection with the Navajo. It is a movie is filled with sorrow, love and truth. Find your copy of  The Lost Child on Amazon by clicking right here.

Beyond The Blackboard A New Hallmark Movie 2011

Another great film, Beyond the Blackboard Hallmark Movie

Beyond the Blackboard is a new Hallmark Hall of Fame movie set to come to your television screen on April 24, 2011.  Luckily for those who do not own the Hallmark Channel, it is having its world premiere on CBS meaning that we will be able to watch it with the rest of the world.

The story promises to be a timely one with a young teacher finding herself teaching a school full of homeless children. Not a situation one expects to encounter and quite possibly not a situation that you have even thought about before but definitely one worth contemplation.

Based on a true story written by the real life hero Stacey Bess called "Nobody Don't Love Nobody: Lessons on Love from the School With No Name," it looks like it could be another moving Hallmark production.

Beyond the Blackboard stars Emily VanCamp, Timothy Busfield and Treat Williams. Stay tuned for more details.

The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler Hallmark Movie

Hallmark Hall of Fame's movie is about a young woman who worked tirelessly during World War II to save, in the end, 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland.

Recently I watched an exceptional Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie called The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler and I was impressed. This movie is about a young woman who worked tirelessly during World War II to save, in the end, 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland.

The movie was well done, taking into account that it is a made-for-television movie, which really only means that it is not a big budget movie and that it might perhaps be a little easier to watch than something made for the big screen.

The story was good enough to make me want to read the book, which was released in 2005. The real Irena Sendler, was nominated for a Nobel Prize in 2007 and, unfortunately, passed away in 2008 before the movie was released in 2009.

If you are interested in learning something about a largely unsung female hero or heroine, you should check out The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler. It is not available on blu-ray but it is readily available on DVD.

Romantic Hallmark Movies For Valentine's Day and All Year Long

Romantic Hallmark Movies (2011) For Valentine's Day and All Year Long
Wondering about the romantic Hallmark movies that are being released in 2011 just in time for Valentine's Day?  The Hallmark channel is running a countdown of movies leading up to February 14th and three of them are brand new movies.

There are three exciting new movies: A Valentine's Date, Smooch and Accidentally in Love and yes, in my humble opinion, they do look good.

While The Lost Valentine was not released as part of Hallmark's countdown Valentine's Day, it definitely was a romantic movie and it was extremely well received on January 30th when it premiered. It is doubtful that this movie will be rerun anytime soon, but you can already buy a copy from Amazon by clicking right here.

The Lost Valentine: Hallmark's 2011 Valentine Movie

The Lost Valentine: Hallmark's 2011 Valentine Movie
The Lost Valentine, Hallmark's new Valentine's Day movie stars Betty White and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Apparently, Betty White has always really wanted to do a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie and finally has her opportunity in this war story.

The Lost Valentine is airing very soon and I am excited because it really does look good and because it is NOT airing on the Hallmark channel, which means that people who do not receive the channel will be able to watch it!

Curiously, The Lost Valentine is often mistakenly called The Last Valentine, which is the actual name of the book written by James Pratt that this movie is based on.

The Best Hallmark Movies Ever

The best Hallmark movies ever is a list that is hard to define.

Have you taken a moment to think about the history behind the Hallmark Hall of Fame movies? Did you know that they have been creating quality television programming since 1951? That's a lot of movies and a lot of favorites so coming up with a list of the 'best' ones is difficult.

The shows Hallmark broadcast at the beginning were different than the ones they air now but they were considered quality television programming at the time.  I don't think many people would pick them as the best Hallmark movies today.

Since then, however, Hallmark movies have gone on to win more awards than any other television production. A best of list would be hard to put together but it would need to include a few movies like Promise, the movie which one the most awards; What The Deaf Man Heard, the movie which drew the largest television audience; and even the very popular Sarah Plain and Tall collection.

If you want to know more about some of the best Hallmark movies ever, please visit my detailed page The Best Hallmark Movies Ever by clicking here.

November Christmas 2010 Hallmark Movie

Hallmark's November Christmas Movie

Another new Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas movie airs tomorrow night and I am excited about this one because it is NOT airing on the Hallmark Channel which means, quite simply, that I get to watch it! (How I do wish I did receive the Hallmark channel! Not only do I miss most of the new Hallmark movies but I also miss Martha Stewart's daily television show.)

Anyway, November Christmas is the story of a couple of families and their community. It tells how people can rally together to help people in their times of need, in this case as a young daughter suffers from a serious illness. Eventually, the father and a neighbor decide to celebrate Christmas in November and come up with a plan to make it happen.

November Christmas stars Sam Elliott, John Corbett, Sarah Paulson, Karen Allen, Elizabeth McLaughlin and Emily Alyn Lind and airs TOMORROW NIGHT, November 28th, on CBS.

Find your copy of November Christmas on Amazon by clicking right here. You can rent it via Prime video or add the DVD to your collection.

What Is The Best Hallmark Christmas Commercial?

What is the best Hallmark Christmas commercial?

Did you know that when people watch a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, they WATCH the commercials, too? How about that they have favorite Hallmark Christmas commercials and that Hallmark receives a flood of mail if their favorite is not aired during a movie? Finally, do you know which Hallmark Christmas commercial is the most popular and most requested?

I think it is a tribute to Hallmark that people love Hallmark commercials and that they are as important to some people as the actual movie is. The most popular commercial is one that originally aired in the 1990s and featured a 10-year old boy waiting with longing for the return of his brother from overseas. I can see why it is so popular and must warn you to have a box of tissues at hand before you hit the play button.

After watching, I am sure you can see why this commercial is so very popular. I have no idea if they'll be airing it this year but, if not, you can be sure that it will be replaced with another heartfelt message.

Hallmark Hall of Fame's A Dog Named Christmas Movie DVD

Hallmark Hall of Fame's A Dog Named Christmas Movie DVD

If you missed A Dog Named Christmas you missed a good movie which is likened to Yeller with a happy ending.

A Dog Named Christmas is based on the book written by Greg Kincaid. It is a thoroughly enjoyable family movie which will make you laugh, cry and smile.

It tells the story of a young man who is developmentally challenged and who displays a wonderful affinity for animals. He learns of a special program that runs at Christmastime and sees people fostering dogs from the local shelter. He convinces his father that they should have one of those dogs for Christmas and his father finally agrees, on the stern agreement that the dog MUST go back on December 26th, when Christmas is over.

A Hallmark Hall of Fame television production, I really enjoyed it. As a matter of fact, I even enjoyed the commercials. The movie is available for purchase from Amazon by clicking right here. If you are looking for a well-done, family friendly, Christmas story, you cannot go wrong with this one.

See you
at the movies!
