Harry Potter Herbology Print

Harry Potter Herbology Print

I found another fabulous Harry Potter themed poster print. Dried nettles, devil's snare and leaping toadstools are but a few of the ingredients illustrated on this Harry Potter Herbology chart, which Etsy seller Well Said Creations hand illustrated. She created the image and then uploaded it to her computer to add colour and texture and to distress it.

If you need extra help with your Herbology studies, then this print is for you. Muggles, wizards and witches alike will find it helpful. They will also like that it is is available in pink, black, white or cream to suit your decor whether you choose to display it in your library, bedroom, kitchen or even your baby's nursery.

EDITED TO NOTE: Regretfully, this poster is no longer available and I am unable to locate the original shop owner, Leah on Etsy. However, to find another great Herbology poster, please visit my second page here.

Star Wars T-Shirts for Young Children

If your young child is dressed with mommy and daddy's interests in mind, you are going to love these t-shirts. They are available in sizes 2T, 3T and 4T. Of course, a child for whom these shirts are intended will not likely be interested in Star Wars yet but they sure will give the adults in his or her life a smile.

With an alphabet theme and all of our favorite characters, they are simply adorable. There are six shirts available with captions that read , B is for Boba Fett, J is for Jedi, R is for R2-D2, W is for Wookie, Y is for Yoda and V is for Vader. They are popular with buyers on Amazon who have left comments like "the cutest Wookie ever." Beware that there is also an occasional comment about the shirts running small so I would consider sizing up for letting your child grow into the shirt.

Are you a Star Wars fan? Would you like to have one of these shirts for your child? Which one would you pick?

Pottermore Presents: New Wizarding World Books (2016)

As if the discovery yesterday of the re-release of one of the best Harry Potter games (seen here) was not exciting enough, I have just discovered Pottermore's announcement of a new trio of books.

This release follows the recent excitement about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child the play and script book as well as the upcoming movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.  Apparently, J.K. Rowling is well aware that fans like us are eager for more Harry Potter.

Pottermore Presents, the new book trio, will include three titles:

Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide
Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists
Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies

They promise a series of short works from Harry Potter's world that were written by Pottermore and taken from their archives and by J.K. Rowling.  They are being released on September 6, just in time for back-to-school at Hogwarts.

There is one drawback. They are in eBook format only.  However, don't despair if you do not have an eBook reader. Other possibilities for reading them include your cellphone, if it is able and your computer.

Interested? You can learn more and order your eBooks from Amazon by clicking right here. Make sure that when you order them that you are on the English version of the book, if that is your preferred reading language. They are also available in French, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Brazilian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Harry Potter Clue Review

Play Clue Harry Potter Edition For Family Friendly Harry Potter Themed Gaming Fun

"A neat and different version of Clue that should please Clue and Harry Potter fans alike. But thanks to the House Point aspect, it's the first version of Clue I've seen where so many people lose before the game is over!" - Rubeus Hagrid

Finally, I can say that I HAVE played the Harry Potter Clue game and that I have LOVED it. (And not just because I won, either!) During our first game, Aunt Robin drank a potion that she shouldn't have and was dead before she knew what had happened and then, my son was taken out by a fire-breathing dragon, leaving me the winner. I hadn't yet solved the mystery of who kidnapped Neville Longbottom but I'm sure I would have eventually.

Harry Potter Clue is a fantastic board game and quite probably as one of the best Harry Potter games. It was on my Christmas wish list and I was thrilled when my teenage boys received it from their Grandparents. The magic and mystery of Hogwarts IS the perfect setting for a Clue game and all of the characters, potions, spells and locations are familiar to Harry Potter fans. The game was fun and it lived up to all the wonderful reviews I had read about it.

Harry Potter Clue is recommended for individuals 9 years of age and up.

What Is Harry Potter Clue About?

In Harry Potter Clue, you discover the secrets of Hogwarts. A student has disappeared and you have to solve the disappearance. The game is played by moving around the board and making suggestions but, as you might expect at Hogwarts, you have to be careful of wheels that reveal secret passages, hidden staircases and even the Dark Mark. In the end, you must go to Dumbledore's office to make your accusation. Amazon says that "kids love taking on the roles of their favorite characters." Not only did my son love doing so but I did, too!

Harry Potter Clue Reviews

Amazon customer reviewer Isabella says she likes this game better than the original version of Clue because of the different twists.

Janis says that this game is different because of the house points that can end the game when you least expect it. She lets us know that you don’t have to be a Harry Potter to enjoy the game but, of course, fans will enjoy it even more. It’s a game of skill and luck and definitely recommended by Janis.

Christopher Ingle says he wasn’t keen to play a remake of Clue but that once he had played he was hooked.

I agree with all of those reviews and can highly recommend this game.  It is a fabulous idea for a Christmas or birthday present for any Harry Potter fan or for your HP collection.

You can click order this Harry Potter Clue game from Amazon by clicking here. However, you should be aware that there is a new 2016 USAopoly version that I understand plays pretty much exactly the same.  You can find the newer 2016 USAopoly Harry Potter Clue game here.

Do you love the game Clue? Are you a big Harry Potter fan? If you answered yes to either of the first two questions, you should definitely be checking out this board game!

Disneyana: A Brief History

The word Disneyana has been used casually since the 1960s and was probably first used in Malcom Willits' collector's book store mail order catalog. However, it was in 1974 with the release of a book called Disneyana: Walt Disney Collectibles by Cecil Munsey that the term really came into use.

In 1976, Disney opened the Disneyana Shop at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. It sold all types of Disneyana including vintage items. The store was closed between 1986 and 1998 and when it reopened, it no longer sold vintage items.

In 1979 a meeting of twelve Disney collectors formed a club in Anaheim to celebrate Walt Disney. It was called the Mouse Club. In 1982, they held the first unofficial Disneyana Convention at the Jolly Roger Inn across the road from Disneyland.

The number of Disney fans grew rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s and today you can find Disneyana items everywhere including at your local mall, online, at auction and at antique shows. Disney increased the amount of collector merchandise it was releasing throughout the 1980s and in 1992 held the first Official Disneyana Convention at the Contemporary Resort, Walt Disney World.

Today there is a lot of Disney merchandise available in a wide variety of quality and desirability. The items produced during Walt Disney's lifespan between 1901 and 1966 are generally more valuable but many people collect new as well as used and vintage Disney pieces.

If you are interested, you will find a few books about Disneyana including the one shown above on Amazon by clicking right here. Meanwhile, here is a selection of new, used and vintage Disney items from my eBay store:

Darth Vader Herr Steinbach Nutcracker

Whether you are starting a new collection or adding to your existing collection, you will love this nutcracker! He is an original and authentic Steinbach Star Wars Darth Vader nutcracker.

Steinbach Nutcrackers are the most cherished nutcrackers in the world and are handed down generation after generation. The Steinbach family started making nutcrackers in 1832 by purchasing a timber yard and operating a wood sawmill, which ran initially by water power and then by steam power.

"To produce one nutcracker," explains Herr Steinbach, "can involve up to 130 separate procedures. At one time, the curling and natural drying to the wood could take up to 3-4 years depending upon the piece."

There are less expensive nutcrackers available than the limited edition one shown here. However, if I was choosing one and I could afford it, I would definitely want it to be a Steinbach nutcracker.

You can find your Darth Vader Limited Edition Herr Steinbach nutcracker on Amazon by clicking right here.

A Brief History Of Star Wars Holiday Merchandise

A Brief History Of Star Wars Holiday Merchandise

If you live in North America, you know Star Wars. The first Star Wars movie was produced by George Lucas in the 1970s and the popularity of the franchise has grown ever since.

Seven live-action movies later, Star Wars is a huge pop culture phenomenon around the world and, of course, the incredible popularity of these movies has helped spawn some great items for Star Wars collectors.

Until 1996, Star Wars Christmas-themed items were simply not available. The two main holiday items that had been produced were "The Star Wars Holiday Special" a television show that aired in November of 1978 and "Christmas in the Stars" a record album that was released in 1980. Neither of those productions was successful so Star Wars fans would have to wait awhile before having the opportunity to collect holiday-themed items.

A lot changed after 1995. Star Wars holiday-themed items appeared. Star Wars fans now have their pick of decorations with which to adorn their Christmas trees and homes. Manufacturers like Hallmark, Christopher Radko, Rawcliffe, Hasbro and Kurt S. Adler all have produced some very interesting Star Wars Christmas-themed memorabilia.

For some, one item will do as an indication of their love of Star Wars. Others, however, are working at building a complete collection. The wonderful assortment available today allows you to celebrate the holiday season in true Star Wars style.

The purchase by Disney of the Star Wars franchise from George Lucas rocked the worlds of Star Wars fans. However, in terms of Star Wars Christmas décor, maybe we will have even more to look forward to in the future since Disney is the master of some pretty amazing movie merchandise.

If you are interested, you can buy the Christmas stockings show above from Amazon by clicking right hereAnyone who wants to celebrate Christmas in Star Wars style should start with a basic item like a Christmas stocking.
